Antelope Island Memorial
Rangers Lead the Way
At the heart of those stories stands 1SG Harvey L. Moore Jr.— “Hardrock Charlie 01.” A Georgia native who enlisted in 1978, Moore served with every battalion of the 75th Ranger Regiment, earned the coveted Best Ranger title in 1985, and deployed to
Operations Urgent Fury, Just Cause, and Desert Shield before returning to lead Charlie Company as its senior enlisted advisor. His relentless standards and quiet mentorship shaped a generation of Rangers, many of whom took inspiration to found HCF after his death in the 1992 crash at age 37. Moore was inducted into the inaugural Ranger Hall of Fame and remains the spiritual compass of the Foundation’s work.

Through the Antelope Island Memorial, HCF preserves the legacy of Harvey Moore and his eleven brothers-in-arms, educates visitors on the cost of readiness, and exemplifies
the Ranger creed’s closing line: “Rangers lead the way.” For information on volunteering, attending the next remembrance, or supporting ongoing maintenance, please contact the Hardrock Charlie Foundation. Some exceptional information on the memorial can be found here as well:
