Annual Arlington Wreath-Laying
HCF's Role & Rhythm
- Sponsorship & logistics – Beginning each July, HCF launches a sponsorship drive under its WAA group code, typically funding 500–800 wreaths earmarked for Ranger and special-operations sections. A liaison team coordinates arrival, distributes Metro passes, and issues event briefs covering security screening and etiquette.
- Friday reconnaissance – The detachment assists in pre-staging for 68 tractor trailers loaded with wreaths for distribution. HCF also assists WAA volunteers in placing wreaths at the war memorials in Washington, DC and the Pentagon.
- Saturday execution – At first light the team links up and begins to prep for distribution of the wreaths. HCF also document placements for loved ones who cannot attend.
- Community outreach – Throughout the day HCF volunteers assist first time visitors with process and procedures for the event.
Why It Matters
For HCF, Arlington is the capstone event of the year—a living classroom where younger Rangers meet the Regiment’s history stone-by-stone, and where Gold Star families see that their loved ones are “never forgotten, never left behind.” The Foundation views the day as an extension of its maintenance work at the Antelope Island and Hunter Army Airfield memorials: different locations, one unbroken promise.
Looking Ahead
HCF aims to double its wreath sponsorship to 1,500 by 2026 and to charter a dedicated bus from Savannah so more active-duty Rangers can participate without cost.
